Today, I was using a SarahBethYoga stretching video to loosen sore muscles from a particularly tense workout earlier in the week caused by my excited anticipation of something new.
Rumination is how my brain tries to wield the future into what it wants, which causes me to get all tense, and yoga is one of the ways I try to intercept it. While I was going through the sequence of movements to try and sooth my aching body and mind, the intention set at the beginning of the practice, “I am patient,” gave me pause.
I remember mentally repeating it and giggling to myself, because the truth is there isn’t a patient bone in my body when it comes to shifts in life. Instead, I get wrapped up in details, strategies and longing, and make myself miserable worrying when whatever it is doesn’t materialize immediately.
But I’ve been feeling extra “woo woo” lately, and other mantras from SarahBethYoga like, “I am exactly where I’m meant to be,” have helped me through my ruminations in the past. So, I’m taking “I am patient” as a sign from the universe that what I want from life will happen, but it won’t be because I’m stressing every part of my mind and body waiting for it.
So, there’s my mantra for the weekend: I am patient.
